Feeding Savannah Monitors

A monitors favorite thing to do is eat! Savannahs are no different. Hatchlings and juveniles can be fed pinkie mice, crickets, and mealworms. You can judge the size of the feeder mouse you should be feeding by the size of the lizard's head. Feeding food items that are too large may cause regurgitation within a few days. Supplement the diet with crickets (dusted once a week) and mealworms. Wax worms can be fed, but only as a treat due to their high fat content. There are also some commercially prepared canned foods that are available at pet stores that can be used as part of the overall diet.
