Reproduction of Savannah Monitor

As with most Monitors, the breeding season, which is usually during the wet season, is a time of aggression. A female is pursued by a male relentlessly, being bitten until she allows him to mate with her. An average clutch of 35 eggs is laid and will hatch about 22 weeks later.
