One on one, never leave together without overseeing. Hibernating for two to three months at 13-15C (55-59F) again some subspecies might require the lower end of the scale before becoming fertile! Breeding in the spring. Clutch size average of nine eggs but some subspecies can lay as many as 20 eggs. Can be double clutched if adults are in prime condition. Hatching at about 60 days at a temperature of 28C (82F) although again the subspecies Lampropeltis alterna takes about 65 days to hatch
