Lighting, Heating and Humidity for the Bearded Dragon

Lighting

Bearded Dragons need special lighting. especially UVB. There are a few UVB florescent bulbs on the market today and they are readily available at your local oet center. Position the light so that your dragon can bask within 12 inches of it. A plain florescent bulb will not provide the correct type of light for your dragon. It is also a good idea to have nothing but screen between the light and your dragon as glass will filter out all but 40% of the needed UVB rays. Always replace the bulb annually as they do wear out without the amount of light changing or looking any different.

Heating

Dragons need to be kept warm. The best temperatures are: Daytime 80 to 85 degrees, with a basking area of between 88 and 100 degrees. Nighttime 65 to 75 degrees, with a warm area of around 80 degrees.

Humidity

As they are a desert/arid land lizard the humidity levels can be kept low. A good daily misting and a weekly soak will be good.
